LCSD Schedules Education 2020 Information Meetings (Some Dates Have Changed)

PLEASE NOTE THAT SOME DATES HAVE CHANGED.
At the Liverpool Central School District Board of Education meeting on January 13, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Mark F. Potter and Deputy Superintendent Daniel Henner unveiled the upcoming milestones for the district’s Education 2020 initiative.
During its February meetings, the BOE will see the full Education 2020 presentation and Dr. Potter will present recommendations to the board for its consideration (please note the board does not anticipate making a decision on these recommendations until June 2020 at the earliest).
Once the recommendations have been presented, the district will hold several informational meetings regarding the Education 2020 initiative. LCSD employees will have the opportunity to see the presentation during building staff meetings, while parents and guardians can attend one of 10 informational meetings:
- February 12, at 6 p.m., at Chestnut Hill Middle
- February 13, at 5:45 p.m., at Willow Field Elementary
- February 25, at 6 p.m., at Nate Perry Elementary
- February 26, at 6 p.m., at Elmcrest Elementary
- February 27, at 6:30 p.m., at Soule Road Complex
- March 3, at 6:30 p.m., at Long Branch Elementary
- March 4, at 6 p.m., at Donlin Drive Elementary
- March 5, at 6 p.m., at Liverpool Elementary
- March 12, at 5:30 p.m., at Morgan Road Elementary
Any community member or group interested in scheduling a presentation regarding the Education 2020 initiative should contact the Office of the Deputy Superintendent at 315-622-7148.
The Education 2020 Committee was formed almost two years ago. It consisted of LCSD parents, teachers, administrators and community members who explored the future of education in the district and the ever-changing needs of students. As part of its work, the committee determined that the Liverpool community shares five key educational values with LCSD teachers and staff members:
- Class size (only close schools if keeping current size is possible)
- Program opportunities (Career and Technical Education, STEM/STEAM, etc.)
- Mental health support/safety
- Tradition (keep what is working)
- Grade configuration (only change if it supports innovation)
